Top US Fishing Spots

The United States has many phenomenal fishing areas throughout the lower 48. These fishing areas offer a huge variety of species and fishing styles. No matter what kind of fishing you enjoy you will find it. Here are a few of the top fishing spots the U.S. has to offer.

One of the most popular fishing spots is the Kissimmee chain of lakes located in central Florida just a few miles of Disney World. The Kissimmee lakes consist of 20 public lakes. They range in size from 200 to 44,000 acres. All 20 of the lakes are connected by a series of rivers and cannels. The fish in these lakes is absolutely amazing. There are huge largemouth bass, Florida largemouth bass, blue gill, and black crappie.

All the way up north, on the Minnesota/Canadian border is Lake of the Woods. This lake is 72 miles long and has an area of 1695 square miles. Lake of the Woods offers some amazing tournament and salmon fishing in some of the most beautiful country they have to offer.

A little father south at the head waters of the Mississippi is Leech lake. This lake is set in an area that is just gorgeous. The lake is noted for its trout fishing.

Lake Winnebago, located in eastern Wisconsin is the largest lake in the state. It is 30 miles long and has 207 square miles of water. Summer fishing on this lake is famous for its big bugs and even larger fish.

Another top fishing spot are the Finger Lakes located in central New York. Finger Lakes are made of 11 lakes that were formed by receding glaciers. These lakes are located in the rolling hills just south of Lake Ontario. They aren’t very deep but Seneca Lake with a depth of 600 feet is the deepest. They’re called Finger Lakes because they are long and narrow. They range from 10 miles to 40 miles long and from 1 mile to 3 miles wide. Fishing from the lakes is fantastic all year round.

The Columbia River along its entire route to the Pacific Ocean is a wonderful place to fish but specifically a town called Pasco, Washington is a great place. In this portion of the river there are trout, salmon, steelhead and sturgeon among many other species.

At the head waters of the Hudson River, above Tarawa, New York in the Adirondack Mountains is an amazing little river to fish. Beginning at the bottom of Mountain Marcy, the river offers some amazing trout fishing and some stunning scenery.

The United States offers so many magnificent places to fish it is hard to list them all, but these are some of the top spots that offer many different styles of fishing.
